Introduction

What is an Ancenstry Visa?

You would apply under this route if you live overseas and are a national of a commonwealth country but have a grandparent that was born in the UK. It is through your ancestry connection that you are seeking to come and live, work and study in the UK. A successful application will allow you to live in the UK for 5 years.

Who is Eligible for an Ancenstry Visa?

  • Have a grandparent who is a British Citizen
  • Need to be 17 or over at the time of application
  • Have enough money to adequately maintain and accommodate yourself without needing to seek any public funds
  • Have an intention to work whilst you are in the UK

** Please note that if you have a dependant (under 18) and wish to bring them with you as part of your application this is something that can be done. We ask that you please mention this when contacting us as the main applicant about their eligibility and fees.

How long can I stay in the UK on an Ancestry Visa?

5 years, after which you will be eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain. If successful in obtaining Indefinite Leave to Remain you will be able to apply to become a British Citizen and thus a British Passport.

What am I allowed to do whilst in the UK?

Live, work and study. The only restrictions that apply is that you have to show that you can adequately maintain and accommodate yourself while in the UK without seeking access to public funds. You also have the ability to bring your partner and any dependants.

Do I need a job offer in order to apply for a UK Ancestry Visa?

No, you do not need to show proof of a secure job offer, only that you have an intention and are taking active steps to obtain employment.

This is the fee that the Home Office will charge for the application. This is not included in MAS costs.

These are the costs charged to you by us. 50% is taken upfront, remaining 50% taken prior to submission.
