What is a No Time Limit Application?

For individuals that have old style immigration documents, or have lost their documents, or have their ILR stamped in an expired passport, this application gives those individuals the ability to transfer their Immigration Status to a Biometrics Residence Permit (BRP) card. This is the most current form of confirming your Immigration Status when required to by the Home Office.

Who is Eligible for a No Time Limit Application?

  • Evidence that you have or have held Indefinite Leave to Remain
  • Must have a valid National Passport
  • Have not had your ILR revoked by being outside the UK for more that 2 years or committed any crimes that would breach criminality grounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for my No Time Limit Application to be processed and receive my BRP card?

The standard processing time is 6 months but the Home Office may take longer to consider you application if they so need.

Is NTL and BRP the same?

No, NTL is the name of the application you make called No Time Limit Application. BRP is a Biometrics Residence Permit card that is given to you after you have made your No Time Limit Application (NTL) to prove your Immigration Status.

Can my NTL application be rejected?

Providing your ILR hasn’t been revoked and you have provided all the required evidence your application should be successful.

Is Settlement and Not Time Limit the same as Indefinite Leave to Remain?

Yes they are all different terms used to describe the same thing which is Indefinite Leave to Remain.
